Sisters’ Social
Divine Mother Mai was installed by Founder Maiji at midnight on 2nd September 1932. After the installation, the Founder experienced severe exhaustion that lasted for three days.
On the third night, he had a significant and pleasant dream. In it, he saw a vast open lawn filled with innumerable women belonging to different religions. He understood this vision as a clear indication that Mother Mai desired a gathering of women from all religions to commemorate her installation.
Acting upon this, the first Sisters’ Social was organized on the day of Dussehra, 9th October 1932, in Pune. More than 300 women from various religions attended this gathering, and it was regarded as a “Mother’s Miracle.”
During this event, an elderly woman of eighty-one years was brought by her granddaughter. The granddaughter shared that the elderly woman had seen a dream indicating that attending this meeting would serve as the highest expiation of sins for any person, regardless of religion.
The Founder emphasized that this was not merely imagination, but a direct command and communication from Mai conveyed through the dream.
Mai Convocation
Mai Convocation is a gathering of men and women for discussions on Mai-ism, along with the exchange of religious ideals among people belonging to different religions.
Oath Ceremony
The Founder has laid out two types of oaths:
i) Mai Saadhanaa Pratignya (General Oath) – A sacred ceremony of taking the general oath of Mai-ism upon entering household life.
ii) Mai Deeksha (Adherence Oath) – Represents advancement in religious study, devotion, and philosophy under the Mai-ism adherents’ oath.

Wedding / Vivaha Lagnam
This refers to the sacred ceremony of marriage. It may vary across places and communities and can be performed in the usual or self-decided manner.
However, the first or final function must be performed in the presence of Mai, either in a Mai temple or before one’s family Mai.
The marriage ceremony in Mai-ism is simple: both individuals garland each other in the presence of parents, relatives, and friends, ending with the couple jointly waving light together, with the wife standing to the left of the husband.
Annaprashan
This is the sacred ceremony of feeding a child for the first time. It is generally performed in the sixth month. The timings mentioned under sacraments are flexible and may be adjusted according to convenience and circumstances.
The ceremony should, as far as possible, be performed in a Mai temple. The first food offered to the child traditionally consists of honey, curd, ghee, and rice. Other details of the ceremony may vary across communities according to local customs and family practices.
Adhyayanam or Vidyarambha
This ceremony marks the initiation of the child into learning, specifically the introduction to alphabets.
Mai Marg
Mai Marg is a quarterly magazine published for the spread of Mai-ism.
Charitable Dispensary
A charitable dispensary was opened at Mai Niwas on 2 October 1987. It continues to provide its services on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3 PM to 4 PM.
